TPS2491: Is TPS2491 applicable for battery application?

Part Number: TPS2491
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24610, , LM74930

Dear TI experts,

My customer have a problem with operating battery applied application.

They see inrush current when they attach battry to system, so FET is sometimes dead right after inserting battery.

(the battery is connected to TI charger's output, BQ24610.)

So I want to add TPS2491 for protecting inrush current. but I need something to confirm before check.

1. Is it applicable for battery powered application?

2. My customer uses a battery of 25V output and maximum current consumption (peak pulse, about 3 seconds) is 20A. Is it okay for TPS2491.

3. Related to question 1, sometimes current flow is reversed. (when charging, current would be flow from IN to OUT, but not charging/product operating situation, the current would be flow from OUT to IN.)

Is it okay for TPS2491?

or it will be very good if you suggest other parts for inrush current protection for the condition of question 2.

Best regards,

Chase
