BQ79718EVM-049: BQ79718EVM-049

Part Number: BQ79718EVM-049

Dear TI,

I am facing following issue in my BQ79718 board while charging & discharging 18S1P battery Pack.

1. How to store the cell parameters permanently in registers.

2. EVM is get disconnected, if laptop get in sleep mode.

3. Can we connect two EVM boards together without BQ7600 & Micro

  • Hi,

    1. The BQ79718 device has very little non-volatile memory. In the datasheet, these are described as OTP (one-time programmable) registers. There are 8 of these registers that can be programmed with anything and several others meant to be programmed with specific constants.

    2. This is likely due to the communication time-out. When the laptop sleeps, does the 718 still receive commands from the laptop? If the laptop no longer sends the commands, the 718 device must be configured so that the communication timeout is disabled.

    3. This is possible, you need to connect a USB2ANY to the laptop and then a BQ79718 EVM to the USB2ANY. This first EVM must be configured as a base device. Then the second 718 EVM must connect to the first via VIF (via the COMH/COML pins). The second EVM must be configured as a stack device. Please let me know if there are additional questions about this.

    Best,

    Nancy
