TPS562207: Questions of TPS562207

Part Number: TPS562207

Dear Team,

Could you help to review the schematic as below?

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • HI Jimmy,

    Here are some comments:

    1. The EN pin pull-up resistance should be smaller(20k) because the internal pull-down resistor can be 225-900k.

    2. It's better to add a 5Ω resistor in series with Cboot to reduce SW spike. Too high spike at SW node might cause device damage.

    Regards,

    Shipeng

  • Hi Shipeng,

    1. The EN pin pull-up resistance should be smaller(20k)  ---> The EN pin pull-up resistance for U6 has been changed to 20K, but U12 has a timing control problem and can't be changed to 20K, but it has been reduced, please help to confirm.

    EN Voltage

          Ven = 12V*( R269 // Ren(225k) / ( (R269//Ren(225k) ) + R268) = 2.7V > 1.6V

    1. add a 5Ω resistor in series with Cboot to reduce SW spike. --> This design has never been seen in the current TPS562207DRLR internal design, does it need to be imported?

    Many Thanks,

    Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

For U12, there's pull-down resistor so the situation would be better. Your calculation is right, and if it's 900k, the EN voltage is 2.96V.

For the 5Ω resistor, I can say that's related to your layout. If customer has used this device before and there's no issue happens, they can keep their layout and ignore this resistor. Otherwise, this resistor should be put in for backup.

    Thanks.

    Shipeng

  • Hi Shipeng,

Thus the EN resistance of U12 can be keep the current design, right?

The resistor you want has been reserved footprint in the Cboot side, attached the latest schematic and layout, please help to review and give your advices. I have sent the file over mail. Thanks for your great support.

    Many Thanks,

    Jimmy
