Hi I'm looking for a LED driver for XHP70D LED type (for example: XHP70D-H0-0000-0D0ZJ440G).
Vin range: I'm using a battery that the voltage range will be 10-18V,
Vout: Typ Vf will be 12V (it can get down to 10.2V)
Output current: it will be around 750mA, but to be on the safe side, I want to support 1A (or more..)
I'm looking for high efficiency (I prefer to be over 90% if possible, to avoid loss and heat dissipation problems).
The LED will be mounted on head-lamp with cable (2 pins, LED+ and LED-) - so i want to support conditions of open/short/overshoot when connect/discnnect)
I want to control the brightness of the LEWD (dimming) with a potentiometer - so it will be excellent if I can do it directly with the driver (analog voltage input), or it is also acceptable to use PWM input to control the average current (I can consider "discrete" circuit, based on 555 example, or as last option - base it on uC with software).
The dimming is bit challenging - to create a kind of "linear" function between the potentiometer rotation and the brightness - but I'll leave it alone for now.
I want to pass EMC/ESD class B so I spread-spectrum is probably an advantage.
I prefer a device that has long life expectancy.
I saw the LP8868 which looks suitable. what is your recommendation - do you think about it? or other devices can be suitable/better/cheaper?
Thanks
Uzi
