TPSM33625: Please recommend DCDC buck module (integrated inductor)

Part Number: TPSM33625

Dear TI experts,

My customer is looking for a DCDC buck module(integrated inductor) for their new project.

The requirement is as below;

input voltage : 5V ~ 21V

output voltage : 5V

output current : maximum 2A

the problem is minimum input voltage. they want to make 5V output even input voltage is 5V.

Could you recommend the module which meet this requirement?

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase,

Thank you for reaching out.  What is the acceptable voltage drop in the 5Vout rail at 2A when Vin=5V?

    Regards,

    Youhao

  • Dear Youhao,

    Thank you for your support.

They want to use 5V output to communication module. I don't know exactly but minimum 4.8V is limited.

Or you can suggest one which has minimum output voltage drop.

    Best regards,

    Chase

  • Hi Chase,

The achievable Vout when VIN=5V would be determined by the max duty:  Ton_max / (Ton_max + Toff_min).

According to the datasheet the guaranteed max duty would  be:  Dmax = 6us / (6us+85ns) = 0.986.

Therefore, the Vout will be:  5Vin * Dmax - Io * Rs

where Io is the load current, and Rs is the equivalent internal impedance which would be the sum of the MOSFET RdsON, the inductor DCR, and PCB trace resistances.

    Hope this clarifies.

    Best Regards,

    Youhao
