BQ28Z610: Compatibility with LiFePo4 batteries

Hi Team,

I have a customer who uses LiFePO4 / LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) which have:

* One of the highest Life Cycles of existing Lithium batteries chemistries (which increases the Charge / Discharge Cycles).

* One of the highest thermal runaway temperatures of existing Lithium batteries chemistries (which reduces the risk of Thermal Runaway).

* The main negative of LiFePO4 batteries is they have one of the lowest Gravimetric Density (Wh/kg) & Energy Density (Wh/l) of existing Lithium batteries chemistries.

Is the BQ28Z610 (Battery fuel gauge with integrated protector for 1-2 series packs) compatible to LiFePo4 batteries?  If yes, what needs to be done to configure fuel gauge?

    Hey Ernest,

    Yes, the BQ28z610 is compatible with LFP batteries. The configuration would be the same as any other lithium based chemistry battery. Just have to make sure to complete the learning cycle.
