TPS56339: Noise in DCM/PFM operation

Part Number: TPS56339

Buck regulator team,

Our customer is seeing noise in their system whenever the TPS56339 is operating in DCM/PFM.  They can force the buck in CCM either by artificially loading the output, or by changing the inductor value from 10uH to 47uH.  They have 2 x 22uF on the output, so this puts them well outside the typical ranges shown in Table 2.

How will this impact the system?  Will it make it unstable?  Is there something else they should do?

They have a 30 Ohm resistor in series with a 100 nF on VBST.

Vin is 20V

Vout is 4.0V

Iout on the 4V rail is typically 180 to 200 mA.

Thanks,
Darren
