EV2400:The EV2400 I²C is unable to communicate

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100,

Hello, TI engineers

I was using the EV2400 to communicate with BQ34Z100, and I was using it normally for the first few days, and I found that I couldn't communicate when I used it for a few days; Timeout or unexpected response communicating with device directly displayed on the host computer.

EV2400 COMM indicator flashes 4 times every 3S, measure SDA&GND, SCL&GND with a multimeter, and its phenomenon corresponds to the COMM indicator, when the COMM indicator does not flash, the voltage is 3.2V, and when it flashes, it is 0V;

What is the cause of this?

  • Hello,

    Are you using an EVM? This behavior is typically caused by the pull up resistors. The EV2400 has internal 10kohm pull ups on SDA and SCL, so if you also have pull ups on your board on the SDA and SCL lines then you will encounter communication issues. Please ensure that the pull ups on your board are disabled.

    Regards,

    Jonny.
