Hi team,

My customer faced an issue during using tps259804.

They found that the current overshoot can reach 7.5A, which is really close to the setting limit (8A).

Thus, they want to enhance the current limit threshold to 10A.

So, they want to use the following formular to set the I limitation to 10A.

Is there any risk or mechanism violation? Since the TPS259804 is marked as 8A.

    Hi Matt,

    So, they want bigger margin between there IMAX and ILIM. Am I understanding your question correctly? 

    Setting 10A will violate our recommended operating condition. Let me check few things before answering your question. Meanwhile can you confirm my understanding.

    Hi Matt,

    I checked it. We are not testing for 10A continuous in production so there will be some risk. Thermally, device can handle 10A and device can also handle transients of 10A. If their primary concern is some peak current for short time duration, then the device can handle it.
