UCC24612: Spice and Boost configuration

Part Number: UCC24612
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27714, UCC28C42

Hi TI team,

Could you please share Pspice model for  part# "UCC24612-1"?

Is it possible use this part in Boost circuit - replacing Boost diode with Synchronous MOSFET and UCC24612-1?

thank you for the support!

regards,

Johnson John

  • Hello,

I checked the UCC24612 and there is Simplis model available for the device.  You can find it at the following link.

    https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slum597

The device was designed for flybacks and LLC converters.  I am not sure how well it would work in a boost converter.

However, you could try it to see if it could possible work in your application.  There is an EVM you can order and use it to replace the rectifier to see if it is possibility.

The other option you have is run the Simplis model to see if it has a possibility before trying the hardware.

  • Hello,

I do have another idea.  Why don't use a half bridge driver instead.  This will take care of the charge pump needed to drive the high side FET.

The UCC27714 would be a good candidate for this.  The following link will get you to the data sheet for this device.

    https://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/ucc27714

If you have any questions regarding how to use the UCC27714 please repost this in the e2e with UCC27714 in the thread title.  This is so the appropriate applications engineer with knowledge and expertise can help you.

  • Hi Mike,

thank you for the response and inputs.

    1. Yes, I saw the Simplis model, but unfortunately we donot have the tool to run. Is it possible for TI team to convert it to Spice and share?

    2. Regarding UCC27714 part, yes it is a nice part and supports wide voltage range & timing values. Our problem is selecting the PWM controller to meet the following Boost converter circuit requirements:

    Vin Voltage range = 21.6Vdc to 154Vdc,

Output voltage = 75V, (output should follow the input voltage above 75V)

    Output current = 1.46A (110W)

If you can suggest some suitable PWM controller then it would be great help. Currently we are using "LT8357JMSE" part for boost controller.

    thank you,

    Johnson John

  • Hello,

Your inquiry has been received and is under review.

  • Hello,

You could use the UCC28C42 in boost configuration.  You would just need to invert the gate drive to control the high side FET through the UCC27714.

In regards to having a PSpice model devolved/converted  for the UCC24612 you will have to put a request into the PSpice modeling team.

If you have questions regarding how to use the UCC28C42 please repost in the e2e with the UCC28C42 in the title.  This is so the appropriate applications engineer can answer your questions.
