BQ25798: ABS-VINDPM value decision?

Part Number: BQ25798

Dear TI,

I hope that you are doing well. I am curious about ABS-VINDPM parameter in the charger as it is critical for my application design. I am using three chargers in parallel following the TI guidelines but this parameter is making things not good.

Let me explain me through an example.

When I plug in the input let’s say 12V, this parameter sets the minimum input threshold for cutting the VSYS output. What if the input dip occurs below default ABS-VINDPM parameter, then the VSYS will be cut off and I don’t want that. Because I wanna run things in the start on the default hardware settings, then write the parameters later. But when the dip will occur and the system will be like there is no source for writing the parameters.

Following are my queries:

- How the charger decides the minimum value for ABS-VINDPM? Because on every power this value is changed the delta in the input is different every time.

- How to set ABS-VINDPM value to the 3.6V through hardware settings?

I am looking forward to hear back from you.

Profound Regards,

Ahmed Ali

  • Hi Ahmed,

VINDPM is set as either 0.7V for low input voltages or 1.4V for high input voltages below the ADC measured voltage at power up before the converter starts pulling current from the power source.   Unfortunately, there is no way to adjust VINDPM value through hardware.
