LM63625-Q1: TPS63625 Used as Always ON Power Supply

Part Number: LM63625-Q1

Hi team,

The customer are using TPS63625 buck regulator as always on power for 3.3V power supply.

It can be understood that as a long-term power supply, when other parts of the host are not working, this power rail provides continuous power supply to the 3.3V device and remains in a wake-up state.

So the chip continues to be in this state, Some concern raised recently are the life time of this IC and low current load stability. So could you help comment if these concerns are necessary?

  • Hello,

The IC is automotive qualified and goes through accelerated life time testing per the automotive standards. The device should be inherently stable by design. If the application circuit is designed for stability at the full load current of the device, then it should be stable during the light load condition as well.

    Best regards,

    Ridge
