Hi team,

We are using AM62PX (PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62P) to program the PMIC of the above part number, for accessing WDG register to read / write do we need to follow I2C 12-bit register address format as this starting from 0x401. And the register address from 0x01h – 0xF1h how it is mapped to the pages? (0,1,2 &3)?

Hi Sahana,

for accessing watchdog registers you need to use the I2C2 bus which is allocated to the GPIO1 and GPIO2 of the TPS6522430-Q1.

As of now we don't have example code for this.

Hi Niko,

Yes, it is mentioned in data sheet that we can use GPIO1 and GPIO2 for i2c2. But what if we have are using i2c1 and it is mentioned we can access Q&A registers with i2c1 itself. How is it done? and in data sheet it is not mentioned to which pages the registers from 0x01 to 0xF1 offsets mapped.?

Hi Sahana,

as of now we don't have any example code for this. If you are using the I2C1 bus to access the watchdog registers you have to use the I2C2_ID in the I2C1 bus. You should be able to access all the registers you need with the base I2C1_ID (not the watchdog).

Hi Sahana,

the I2C2_ID is stated in the user's guide for the OPN which for you should be the TPS6522430RAHRQ1. User's guide for this is in the secure resources for which you can request access here.

Registers from 0x01 to 0xF1 should all be in the user register space in page 0.

Hi Sahana,

usually there is no need to access page 1 to 3. Is there specific registers you want to access but are not able to? The user guide is in secure documents for which you need to request access to. It can't be shared directly.

you seem to be referring to the data sheet. The user's guide for TPS6522430RAHRQ1 can be found in the secure resources where you will find this information.

Hi Niko,

Are you specifying to this ID? So if I have connected I2C1 SDA and SCl, if I'm not using I2C2, then we can give 0x12 as the address and access the Watchdog register

Hi Sahana,

yes these are what I mean. You have to reconfigure GPIO1 and GPIO2 to some other functions than I2C2 to get it working with only I2C1. If dedicated I2C2 bus is used through GPIO1 and GPIO2 then I2C1 can't access watchdog registers.

Hi Niko.

I got what you told. But we have 2 modes in watchdog: Trigger mode and Q & A mode. Is it possible to work the watchdog in Trigger mode without using i2c2 and with i2c1?

Hi Niko, the Page 0 offset address are 8 bit, so we use I2C in 8 bit addressing mode. But the watchdog registers offset are 12 bit. How that addressing can be done?

Hi Sahana,

Watchdog in trigger mode is used through GPIO2 in TRIG_WDOG configuration. No I2C needed to serve the watchdog. You should be able to access the watchdog registers through the I2C2 ID. No modification needed for the address.

Hi Sahana,

actually the register address is always 8-bit long. When accessing the watchdog registers you should be able to just use the I2C2_ID and from the register address drop the '4' out since it just indicates the page number. The watchdog registers are basically the only page for the I2C2_ID and they start from address 0x0 as they normally would. In the register map they are referenced as 0x4yy registers for convenience. I understand how this could be confusing.
