TPS6594-Q1: How to calculate the buck output inductor?

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Hi Ti team,

For TPS6594, how to calculate the output inductor? Is it the same as DCDC?There is no formula in the datasheet.

Another question, if we need calculate the inductor for PMIC? Because I see that there will be a recommended value in the datasheet. What is this recommended value based on?

Thanks!

There are a total of 7 buck use case scenarios with different L and C combinations in the TPS6594 data sheet. There isn't a need to calculate the inductor.

The recommended values are based on design simulations and our bench validation for DC regulation and load transient performance. However, if a customer knows that they will use a buck under light load scenarios, they can consider smaller inductors with lower saturated current values.
