LM7310: Paralelling 2 power supplies

Hello,

I want to put in parallel 2 power supplies with output of 12V/4A in order to supply a load of 12V/8A.

I want that bout power supplies supply current at the same time (not ona supplying and the other in standby).

Can I use LM7310 or TPS25947 for this purpouse? Which is the difference between them?

Hi Marina,

TPS25947 has current limit and LM73100 does not. You can follow ORing configuration as shown in datasheet. Do you want equal current sharing to happen between 2 paths?

Hello! Thank you for your answer. Yes, it is desirable to have an "equal" sharing, it does no need to be an exact 50%/50% but something like 40%/60% would be perfect.

Hi Marina,

Current sharing will not be guaranteed. If difference between supply level is too high then one path will end up being turned off.
