Hi Team,

My customer is using TPS3106K33DBVR. They found that when MR voltage rise above VDD, the device will be locked, and only a power outage will allow the chip to return to normal.

Could you tell me why the MR voltage can't rise above the VDD, is it normal to lock the device when this happened? Thanks.

Hi Jayden,

I just have some clarifying questions below.

What kind of "locked" behavior is the customer seeing?

Is the RESET pin latching HIGH or LOW?

How much higher than VDD are they inputting to the MR pin?

Could you provide an schematic for their application?

Hi Jesse,

Thanks for replying! The device is locked with RESET pin latch Low. Here is the schematic below. The MR pin is connected to external reset signal (Max voltage 3.3V). Therefore, in use, the MR pin may be powered on first. Thanks.

Hi Jayden,

Unfortunately the TPS3106's MR pin has a dependency to the VDD and the input cannot go up before VDD before initialization. Since the MR pin is already pull up to VDD internally, I would recommend setting the GPIO to HIGH-Z at start-up.
