BQ20Z40-R1: bqEASY fails when a CHEM installer is applied to bqEVSW.

I tried updating CHEM files on bqEVSW, to accommodate a new CHEM_ID, but when either Updater 1082 or 1083 is used, bqEASY would lock up.  For each attempt, I uninstalled the existing bqEVSW and the updater and reinstalled sluc156a, and then the CHEM Installer. The application is a legacy medical product for which the Cell is going EOL and a new cell is to be incorporated. 

In desperation, I tried replacing the CHEM INI file (PLUGINS\Chemistry\CHEM INI with the corresponding file which was part of Updater 1803 but that resulted in a fault shown as "Syntax error in CHEM INI ."

Additionally;   I used sluc 156a which comes up as bqEVSW 0 00.09.64. .A later version, 0 00.09.92 was available but on the TI Website I only found an install file for that which only supported bq30z554 versions.

Even sluc 156a has an issue.  When this version is installed, with no CHEM updater applied, and no gauge connected, the GUI indicates the target as bq20z40R1R1. Though no target is connected, the GUI does not show a list of possible targets, 

To accommodate bqEVSW I'm using a Windows XP computer with an EV2300.

    Hi Dominic,

    Ultimately, I got it to work. I loaded the SW indicated, but  bqEVSW taken from the install program always worked. The problem was that it did not include the CHEM_ID that I needed (7539).  Installing Updater 1083 resulted in bqEASY to lock up. It reported no chem_IDs.   What ultimately worked was copying the Updater.exe file to the bqEvaluation Software folder, running it, shutting down, and rebooting. Only with this sequence did bqEASY work and contain the CHEM_ID that I needed.

    REMAINING:

    1. I've been downloading files for the above using my Win11 desktop and transferring them to the Win XP computer needed to run bqEVSW.  I also tried to get the latest CHEM_ID files into bqStudio on the Win 11 pc.  Since then, bqStudio comes up in an "EV2300 Version."  Re-Installing bqStudio did not fix that, Please tell me how to correct this. 

    If the CHEM_ID Updater file needs to be placed within the bqStudio files and run from there, please provide details.

    bqStudio uses a different ChemID method. You can install a ChemID update into any folder of your choice and then copy the contents into the Chemistry folder of bqStudio. The required files that must be copied into this folder are:

    Chem.ini
    chemdat*.*
    chemversion.txt

    bqStudio is compatible with both EV2400 and EV2300. There is no special version for either interface.

    It appears that what is needed is the Chemistry folder for ChemUpdate 1083.    For 1083, I only received the Application file.   Using a previously uninvolved Win 10 PC, I installed 1083 into a separate folder but that did not result in putting an updated Chemistry file (or any other files) in that folder. (It did result in that computer coming up with bqStudio in EV2300 version. Un-installing returned it to EV2400.)

    ChemUpdate 1082 was the version on the TI site and it was available with an Application file and also another folder with 3 subfolders (Chemistry, Locations, and Misc). Its Chemistry folder contains the types of files that you recommend I copy into bqStudio. But 1082 only contains IDs up to 7536 and my CHEM_ID is 7539.   Chem_ID Installer 1083 contains ID 7539 but only the Application file. Doing an Install did not result in making the Chemistry folder accessible. It appears that all I need is the 1083 Chemistry folder (or selected files from it.)

    If you use bqStudio you can copy the contents from the installer to the chemistry folder. Here are the actual chemistry files. Just unzip the contents to the chemistry folder from bqStudio.
