LP87524J-Q1: About PGOOD and webench

Part Number: LP87524J-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843AOP

Hello,

I would like to use LP87524J-Q1 for IWR1843AOP, and I have the following questions about LP87524J-Q1.

1) Does "PGOOD indication signal" output after all Vout (Vout1-4) is stable?

2) If I use LP87524J-Q1 for IWR1843AOP, can "PGOOD indication signal" be used in combination with IWR1843AOP?

If "PGOOD indication signal" is not used for IWR1843AOP, please let me know handling of unused of PGOOD pins.
(pull-up, pull-down or open)

3) Can I simulate LP87524J-Q1 on your webench?

Please advise.

Thanks and regards,

Shoko

  • Hello Shoko,

Thanks for reaching out. Please seem my answers to your questions below.

    1) Does "PGOOD indication signal" output after all Vout (Vout1-4) is stable?

Yes,  there is soft indication as well in terms of interrupt which gets set when output voltage reaches to the VSET value.

Additionally, PGOOD signal at PGOOD pin is hardware indication and it does get active (depending on the polarity set by default) when voltage reaches to its programmed value with delay of 7µs/11ms as shown in Figure 13 in DS.

In addition to above functionality, PGOOD is also meant to be used for voltage or current monitoring purposes as well. You can read the 7.3.7.1 section of DS for further details.

    2) If I use LP87524J-Q1 for IWR1843AOP, can "PGOOD indication signal" be used in combination with IWR1843AOP?

What do you mean by in combination with IWR1843AOP?

If "PGOOD indication signal" is not used for IWR1843AOP, please let me know handling of unused of PGOOD pins.
    (pull-up, pull-down or open)

If PGOOD is not used you can choose to not select each of the Bucks for PGOOD monitoring in PGx_SEL ( PGOOD_CTRL1 register). This is explained in 7.3.7.1 and also you can refer to the Table 6. in the same section for PGOOD operation information.

    3) Can I simulate LP87524J-Q1 on your webench?

No Unfortunately, it is not integrated in Webench.

  • Hello Ishtiaque,

    Thank you for quick response.

I understand your information about LP87524.

    Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Shoko,

Glad to hear that your questions have been answered.

One update to your last 3) question. You can simulate LP87524J-Q1 using SIMPLIS and PSPICE model available at link to the product page . Go to design and development ->  Design tools and simulation.

Output voltages might need to be adjusted to reflect the correct OTP variant/Part number.

  • Hello Ishtiaque,

Thank you for your information. I'll make note of that.

    Thanks,

    Shoko
