TPS25750EVM: not able to have 20V source output

Hi Team,

I am trying to let TPS25750 be as a source role and I follow the setting in EVM user guide. However, I notice that the CC log is retrying, as well as VBUS. as picture below:

I try to use 994EVM and my laptop as a sink to capture CC log as below:

My config setting is as below:

    Hi Corry,

    From the PD logs, it looks the connection is hard resetting when PD does not see the 20V at PPHV that was negotiated. This is likely due to a configuration issue with the BQ part. 

    Can you confirm whether you are using BQ25790 or BQ25792? Please confirm so I can check the I2C event table. Please also send me your json configuration file. If you would like to confirm the voltage at PPHV, you can probe this on the EVM with a multimeter or scope.

    TPS25751 is a new device that is replacing TPS25750. It is the same footprint and improves on usability and features. Please consider TPS25751 over TPS25750 for future projects.

    Hi Corry,

    Can you try this project configuration attached? It should source 20V on PP3 path and has a slightly different I2C controller event configuration for the BQ25731 part. When you test it, please take an analog capture of the PPHV and VBUS signals. If you can please also capture digital CC signals and I2Cc_SDA/SCL.

    Hi Alex,

    as attached.

    problem not solved.

    Analog I2C seems weird not sure if that impact our decode result.

    Hi Corry,

    I took a look at logs and it does look like the BQ part is still not configured correctly. Let me try and get you a working configuration for the BQ. 

    In the logs, was VBUS and PPHV divided at all (resistor divider to reduce voltage for measurement)?

    I probe the Test point on the EVM, I think there is no divider for VBUS and PPHV on EVM

    Hi Corry,

    I checked with the team and we unfortunately do not have a readily available working I2C event table for BQ25731. You are welcome to check with the battery charger BCP team to get the correct events for 20V output, but we are not supporting TPS25750 configurations anymore at this time. We are aware of the issue in the default TPS25750 configuration, but will not be taking steps to resolve this due to the release of the next generation TPS25751 to ti.com.

    I recommend ordering a TPS25751 EVM and a BQ25756 EVM for a better working setup. We do have a configuration ready for that combination and are actively supporting TPS25751 configuration issues. Please note that the TPS25751 does not have a BQ part on the EVM, so you will need to order that EVM separately. You can find the TPS25751 EVM here:
