UCC28056: UCC28056B

Part Number: UCC28056

Hi,

The UCC28056 has an Over voltage protection (OVP1 - 428 V & OVP2 - 450 V) as per the datasheets provided in the website. I would like to know at what input line voltage this output over voltage condition may occur? and up to what input side over voltage the boost converter will boost and with stand?

It will help in my design very much, kindly answer it asap.

Thanks

Vinothkumar

  • Hello,

Your inquiry has been received and is under review.

  • Hello,

That is a safety to prevent the boost capacitor from an over voltage.

An LC tank during inrush could produce a 2X input ring.  However, if you use a bypass diode across the boost stage that will not occur.

The DC to DC transfer function of a boost is Vout/Vin = 1/(1-D).  So the closer D gets to 1 the higher the gain.  So if the duty cycle was 95% what input voltage would you need to achieve 428 V and 450 V?  I think, you will find you can achieve these voltage on a boost with an input of Vout/20.
