BQ27520-G4: RM value continues to increase even after charging is complete.

Part Number: BQ27520-G4
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM, BQ24172

Hi,

An issue has occurred where the RM value continues to increase even after charging is complete.
Is this as specified?
Could you tell me the detail regarding the continued increase in RM values?
Attach the log file and golden file.

  • Hi,

Is it possible to send a bqstudio log file?

Also was a good ChemID match obtained and learning cycle completed.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi,

It is difficult to get a bqstudio log file.
This is because when the unit is driving, MCU always is communicating with this IC.

    >Also was a good ChemID match obtained and learning cycle completed.
I believe a good ChemiD match was obtained and learning cycle completed.
This is because we are using "GPCCHEM" and we did the learning cycle.

    Regards,

  • Hi,

Can you share the report from the GPCCHEM tool and the data input?

Is it possible to log additional variables using the MCU?

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi,

It is okay to share the report from the GPCCHEM tool and the data input though, please wait for a little while longer.
I need to confirm that to the member of the associate company.

By changing the FW of MCU, I was able to collect the log data during charging via "BQ Studio".
Is the attached data the one you requested?
If it is yes, I'll share the log when this issue is occurring.

  • Hi,

Please share the GPCHEM data and report when available.

Yes, please use BQstuido to log the error.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi,

About GPC report, our battery is "NCR18650BD" and the battery is included in the chemistry programming library.
Then we don't submit the data and receive the report from GPC.

I've corrected the log when the issue occurred.
Please refer to the attached log.

  • Hi,

I know you said you did not use the GPCCHEM tool because your cells were in the chemistry library, which should be ok.

However, after taking a closer look there are some values in your RA table that would indicate a poor chemID match. Can you use the GPCHEM tool to verify a proper chemID match.

Other things to look at is to verify all parameters related to valid charge termination are configured properly.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi Evan,

I am interested to know how to tell if the values in the RA table has a poor chemID match. Could you advise?

    Thanks.

    Rgds

    Dan

  • Hello,

Evan is currently OoO, please expect a delayed response.

    Regards,

    Jonny.

  • Hi Jonny,

    Noted.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Rgds

    Dan

  • No problem.

    Regards,

    Jonny.

  • Hi Dan,

There are usually not negative values in the Ra table, however just because there are negative values does not mean it is wrong. I would like to see the GPCCHEM report and input data to verify.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi Evan,

I'd like to collect and submit the data to GPCCHEM tool though, the bqstudio tool hanged during the test.
I'd try it again and submit it then please wait for a few day for sharing the report from GPCCHEM.

I've confirmed all parameters related to valid charge termination and I believed there was no problem.

And when the setting for "Deadband" was changed from 5mA to 0mA, after the charging was completed AI value was 1mA.
The following is that log data.
Could you tell me any advice?
BQ24172 is used as our charging IC.

  • Hi,

Thank you, please share the report when available.

Any adjustments we make before a proper chemID match will become irrelevant if we change chemIDs.

    Regards,

    Evan
