BQ35100: Gauging Lithium Thionyl Chloride chemistry Battery package

Hi,

I'm using Bq35100 for gauging the battery pack in which 12 cells are connected in parallel. The chemistry of my cell is Lithium Thionyl Chloride. Each cell is of capacity 17Ah. This makes the total capacity 204Ah,whcih can be stored in a 4 bytes variable.But the gauge is showing that the design capacity can be maximum of 2 bytes. Then what value can be written as the cell design capacity?...

Hey Arun,

According to the specs sheet, the maximum capacity that is recommend to use for the BQ35100 is 32 Ah. This is also why Design Capacity is a 2 byte value.

I'm using non rechargeable battery, of which gauging is recommended using Bq35100.Is there any way, by which I can measure the remaining percentage of my battery pack.

Hey Arun,

Our team has not done testing with the BQ35100 using a battery pack with a capacity greater than 32 Ah. Therefore, I can not guarantee you will get good results. I would recommend getting the EVM for this gauge and doing some preliminary testing.
