TPS61299: Questions for an integrated p-channel MOSFET

Hello experts,

I have trivial questions regarding a p-channel MOSFET in a boost converter.

In a functional block diagram for TPS61299, it seems the p-channel MOSFET has switch which can be connected either left side or right side.

1. What does this p-channel MOSFET symbol mean? Can it flip emitter and collector during operation? Could you tell me why it includes switch symbol?

2. If it can switch emitter and collector, can we finde the description about it in the datasheet? I couldn't find any information regarding the meaning of the symbol.

Hi Kento,

it means the body diode could be switched. Boost mode , body diode +SW,- Vout, Pass through or shutdown mode, body diode+vout, - SW. In this way, the true shutdown operation can be obtained .

You could refer to the application note Boost Behaviors at Shutdown (Disabled): True Disconnect or Pass Through (ti.com)

chapter 3.1 for detailed information.

Do you mind my asking an additional question?

I'm curious about how to switch the body diode direction. Is there any document I can refer to to understand the mechanism of body diode direction switching?
