LP5907: Are there any timing requirements for EN line?

Part Number: LP5907
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A20

Are there any minimum timing requirements between the IN and EN lines on the LP5907 regulator?  For example, must the IN line be at some minimum voltage before the EN line goes high?

If the enable line goes high before there is any voltage on the IN line, will that cause any issues?

  • Hi Kevin,

FYI: There is a newer device to the popular LP5907.  The newer device is the TPS7A20 which offers more current (300mA vs 250mA), is cheaper, and has improved stability margins over the legacy device. We recommend moving towards the TPS7A20 if these enhancements are appealing to your design.  The LP5907 has faster rise time and lower Iq at max load.

You just need to stay within the abs max ratings of the LP5907.  On the enable pin, abs max is 5.3V and not Vin, so there is no timing or sequencing requirements here.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
