Hi Team,
There is a full charging issue on customer's board. Charge status is charge-in-progress after charging 8.33V to 8.4V. Should TCC capacitor be changed to higher value? Please check it and let me know.

Hello Jeffery,
I have a few questions:
What is the Input voltage/current?
Charge status is charge-in-progress after charging 8.33V to 8.4V
I'm confused on the question, the battery does charge to 8.4V or the battery does not charge to 8.4V?
Are you asking why the battery is not terminating charge when batttery is 8.4V?
Can you please explain the question more?
Best Regards,
Christian.
Hi Christian,
I'm sorry about my fault. There is a typo of 8.4V charging voltage. It is not 8.4V but 8.34V.
What is the Input voltage/current? 9V and over 3A.
Battery does charge to 8.4V or the battery does not charge to 8.4V? Battery doesn't charge to 8.4V.
Please check it and let me know.

Hello Jeffrey,
I'm still confused on the issue. The charge voltage is set to 8.34V. When the battery reaches 8.34V the battery should reach charge termination and stop charging. You are not seeing charge termination and the battery is still in charge mode. Is this correct?
What is the charge current when the battery is at 8.34V, Does the battery voltage continue to to increase to 8.35V?
Best Regards,
Christian.
Hi Christian,
The charge voltage is set to 8.4V. When the battery voltage reaches 8.33V to 8.34V, STAT1 LED is blinking and STAT2 LED is off. The battery voltage repeats up and down from 8.33V to 8.34V. Customer is checking the charge current when the battery voltage is at 8.33V to 8.34V, and I will let you know if I get it from them.

Hello Jeffery
If they increase their input voltage is the issue resolved?

Hi Christian,
They will verify their board under condition of over 10V input voltage. And the attachment is battery charge voltage graph. Please check it.

Hello Jeffery,
Is this with a Input voltage greater than 10V?
My concern is that the Input votage is too low.
They will verify their board under condition of over 10V input voltage.
This is the test results, That I am waiting for.
Best Regards,
Christian.
Hi Christian,
Please let me know your recommended input voltage range when charge voltage is set to 8.4V. I will let them your recommendation.
Regards,
Hello Jeffery,
TI recommends an input voltage of at least 1.5 V to 2 V higher than the battery voltage.
Best Regards,
Christian.
Hi Christian,
Customer tested their board under condition of 11V input voltage and 1.3A charge current, but this issue is still occurred. Are there any other points to check?
Regards,
Hello Jeffery,
Please refer to this E2E post:E2E Post
The cause is likely too much series resistance between the charger battery sensing voltage and the battery cells.

Christian
