Sorry for the delay in response. The converter seems to be loaded by about 0.5A, can you confirm the load conditions?  Can you also verify if the layout matches the recommendation specified in the datasheet?

Hi Richard,

The converter has a load of 0.1 to 1A, and the layout follows the recommended guidelines. Only capacitors are situated on the bottom layer, alongside the UVLO Adjust Resistor and Frequency Set Resistor. All other components are on the top layer.

What are the conditions you are operating in that causes the part to blow up? Can you provide me your layout? Usually, you would want all the power-stage components to be on the top side of the board.

The device serves as a processing unit and functions as an I/O card and power converter for Raspberry Pi. The specific section experiencing issues is responsible for converting 24V to 12V to power cameras used for traffic monitoring. Consequently, these devices are installed in traffic poles with enclosures.

I think the placement looks ok, but I may need a view of the top layer with the component labels not flipped. One thing I wanted to check, but couldn't, was how the bootstrap capacitor is placed. It should be close to the IC.

Do you have a GND plane in between the top and bottom layers to allow for heat dissipation?

The bootstrap capacitor is located on the bottom layer of the board, while the IC is on the top layer. Since the board is only two layers, there is no ground plane between the layers.
