TPS65987D: Controlling externally powered devices using I2C

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987, TPS55289, TPS65988, , TPS55288, USB-C-PD-DUO-EVM,

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We are considering using TPS65987.

Regarding DDI signals from COM Express, We are thinking of using a display port interface to supply video signals and power to a mobile monitor.

Therefore, I use the TPS65987 USB Type-C PD controller and use the TPS55289 as a power supply device that can control the power supply voltage with I2C.

From the TPS65987 datasheet, I2C3 is the I2C master, so is it possible to control the TPS55289 with this I2C3 port?

If control is possible, do you mean create all I2C masters with the "TPS659xx Application Customization Tool"?

Or assuming this application, do you think I would need an external CPU(Like EC in the diagram) to control the TPS65987 and TPS55289?

Regards,

MM
