UCC28742: Help with transformer design

Part Number: UCC28742

I'm trying to design a flyback converter with powdered iron core. Is there a way to reduce core losses, as it will impact in RE and CE testing for my product. I have no choice but to use powdered iron core because I have a magnetic saturation requirement of 0.5 T.

  • Hi Abhinav,

Because of the magnetic permeability and flux density saturation (as you mentioned), iron core is the way to go on a Flyback power converter. If EMI emissions is the concern, UCC28742 has frequency dithering which allows to reduce EMI emissions.

    Thank you
