Hello , I have a question about part number TPS26631.

I am using it as a simple load switch , and I am having trouble understanding what kind of output capacitor I have to place.

I am using 6 devices connected in parallel, since they are powered from the same rail and have a common output.

eventually this output will be connected to the input of a DC/DC.

in your EVM you connect a 1000uF output capacitor , is it really necesssary to use such a big capacitor? I have some space problem in my board.

Hi Kristina,

Choosing cap is up to you. We only recommend small cap like 0.1uF for decoupling purpose.

ok, then why do you use a 1000uF output capacitor in the evaluation board?

That is just an example to show that device can charge large caps.

Dear Kunal,

The capacitor Kristina refers to is the output capacitor Cout described on p.32 of the datasheet (section 10.2.2.3).

It is not a decoupling capacitor to my understanding.

What is the minimum allowed value for this capacitor ?

Hi Nir,

That cap is shown as example in application section. That application need cap . As I told earlier, eFuse device does not need cap to operate. Choosing cap is up to customer based on there application.

So theoretically if we want the eFuse to disconnect the circuit in case of failure and don't need to store energy for interruption time - meaning TFAIL_TR=0 - we can remove this cap completely?
