TPS7B86-Q1: EN pin internal PD information

Part Number: TPS7B86-Q1

Hello Expert,

Could you please tell me about whether there is internal pull down in EN pin?

Also, if there is EN pin, could you please provide resistance information with your opinion about whether customer should add external PD for avoiding unexpected condition from disturbance?

Best regards,
Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

There is not an internal pull-up or -down circuit for the EN pin.

How are they expecting to use the EN pin? Will it be controlled with a microcontroller or connected to the input (divided down or some other way)?

I ran a simulation and over temperature (but not process) the EN pin resistance is approximately 20Gohm. There isn't much temperature variation, but there is some.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Nick-san,

Thank you for your quick reply.

This questions is just they want to know about whether they need to add to maintain low condition in any case if there isn't any intentional high signal on EN pin.

So, I explain them to need External pull down resistance on EN pin.

Is there any recommended value for this portion?

    Best regards,
    Kazuki Kuramochi

  • Hi Kuramochi-san,

I agree with your recommendation. Any reasonable resistor size would work, so if they want to keep leakage low they can use a large resistor. The limiting factor would probably be thermal noise from the resistor before its resistance becomes an issue.
