TPS6594-Q1: Inductor value vs slew rate relationship

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Hello sir,

We calculate inductor according to use case, the actually we concern that how the inductor value impact BUCK slew rate which set in NVM, for example, as experience application, we follow below to calculate which from TI application note. If the inductor much bigger than datasheet recommend value, how impact slew rate setting in NVM? And how we check if this external inductor value meets slew rate setting in NVM? According to this ratio VOUT/L?

  • If the inductor much bigger than datasheet recommend value, how impact slew rate setting in NVM?

If the inductor value is much higher, this will lower the maximum slew rate the buck can achieve. For example, if BUCKn_SLEW_RATE is set to 20mV/us, a larger inductor may only be able to achieve 12-15mV/us.

And how we check if this external inductor value meets slew rate setting in NVM? According to this ratio VOUT/L?

There isn't  a formula for sizing an inductor relative to the desired slew rate or the setting of the NVM.

  • Thanks for your reply.

So, how we evaluate the inductor value satisfied slew rate that in OTP configured? Please give some advice.
