BQ76952: BQ76952 creepage distance

Part Number: BQ76952

HI Team,

I am checking out the BQ76952 and have some concern about the creepage distance.

The PCHG and PDSG pin shall be HV pin? When DSG/CHG MOSFET is off, the PACK/LD pin could be low voltage to VSS, however PCHG and PDSG could still be high voltage.

Is this pinout meeting the minimum creepage distance requirement?

Thanks.

  • Hello Cheng,

PCHG/PDSG are high-voltage pins up-to an abs max of 85-V. So that's okay.

  • HI Luis,

Creepage distance which relate to the working rms voltage. E.g. Both DSG and CHG pins up to 85V, however there are still NC pin between DSG and CHG, which I think is due to the creepage distance requirement, correct?

I don't find the PCHG/PDSG off voltage, are they pulled low to VSS when PCHG and PDSG are not ON?

    Thanks

  • Hello Cheng,

PCHG/PDSG are Hi-Z when OFF, so the pins get pulled to the BAT+ or PACK+ voltages when OFF due to the gate-source resistors.

These drivers are high-side P-FET drivers, so it pulls the pin low with a small current source to Vss, to turn the PCHG/PDSG FETs ON.

We have not seen any problems with their distance together.

    Best Regards,
