TPS62933F: Webench only allows only 1 external component to be edited, why not more

Part Number: TPS62933F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62933

Hi team,

My customer noticed that he can't make a customized simulation with more than one change. If he does more the prior  change is reversed again.

He also claimed that a few days ago he was still able, however now he can do a customized simulation anymore .

Could you have a look and solve it?

  • Hi Frank,

Due to the holidays in China (5.1-5.5), there will be a delay in replying. My colleague Bella will reply to you later. Thanks for your patience.

  • Customer has biggest trouble with the TPS62933F device. If he changes the Rfbb from 10k to 100k and after that the Rfbt from 37.4k to 374k the webench changes the Rfbb back to 10k by its own.

Same issue with other components, but not every time.

The effect occurs also sometime with TPS62933, but not so often, seems.

  • Hi Frank,

Got it. I think this issue happens because a fault condition happens after the first step.

The Vref of TPS62933F is 0.8V. After customer finished the first step to change Rfbt from 37.4k to 374k (the Rfbb is still 10k at this time), the output voltage set point will become 0.8V/10*384 = 30.72V. But TPS62933F only supports up to 22V output. After this step, I think the webench tool enters some fault condition and the issue happens.

If changing bottom feedback resistor Rfbb at first and change Rfbt after that, the issue will not happen as there is no fault condition during the procedure. And I could change Rfbb to 100k and change Rfbt to 374k both.

I think if there could be a warning after customer change Rfbt from 37.4k to 374k indicating the Vout exceeding allowable range, that would be better. But I tried similar setting on the webench models of some other products, it seems Webench model doesn't support this function currently.

We would let Webench team knows about this and see if they are able to make any improvement to support the warning function after changing components.

But I think this should be the root cause of your mentioned issue and please let customer change Rfbb firstly to avoid this fault condition in the procedure.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
