TPS61042: DRB0008A and DRB0008B Packages in the datasheet, but same part#

Part Number: TPS61042

Hello,

I've designed a device using the TPS61042DRBR, and did the layout with the DRB0008A footprint, as we habe it in our library for other TI ICs. I didn't notice that there are 2 different footprints in the datasheet, the DRB0008A and DRB0008B, but without any part-number difference, and no reason whey there are 2 different packages.

We produced 10 prototypes at the EMS, they didn't complain (I don't know what package they got for the those 10 Pcs).

We sent the same design to another EMS who complained that the TPS61042DRBR they got has the DRB0008B package. I told them to try to solder them anyway, as the 8 used pins are the same, but the exposed pad is different.

On the main page of the TPS61042DRBR, the top IC picture is an DRB0008A:

But the footprint catalog on this same pages has a link to the DRB0008B:

We are all confused now.

Best regards

Jean-Marc
