TPS92643-Q1: Output Short to 12V

Part Number: TPS92643-Q1

Hi team,

My customer wants to use TPS92643-Q1 for a constant current drive design of the solenoid valve and has the following questions:

1. High side short circuit to power +12V/ground (below LED+), short circuit capability is 100A-max, can the upper and lower MOS inside the chip withstand this type of test?

2. The actual current of the load can be read by the MCU?

Thanks!

Regards,

Ivy

  • Hello Ivy,

I need clarification on your question.  Are you saving you short the CSN pin to the battery?  We have current limiting circuits for both the High Side and LS FETs to protect the device.  I don't understand what you mean by 100 A.  This is an analog buck driver and we don't report the load on the output.  You would have to device a circuit to do that if you need that.  We simply have the nFLT pin to tell the MCU when you have an open or short circuit condition.  Nothing else.
