LM78L: LM78L05ACZ

Part Number: LM78L
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UA78L, TPS709

Hi Team,

We know that 'NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR' is acquired by TEXAS INSTRUMENTS.

So, for below NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR's parts, can we consider the corresponding TI Part Number as "Form, Fit, Functional" alternates/replacements? Kindly confirm.

LM78L05ACZ LM78L05ACZ/NOPB
NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR TEXAS INSTRUMENTS

Thanks and regards,

Chanchal Kumar

  • Hey Kumar,

These would be considered alternates for each other. I would highly encourage you to move to a newer alternative. These devices are in legacy packages that we now have much better devices UA78L05ACDR in SOIC and TPS70950DRVR in WSON package that offer a lot more benefits and would also be considered same in function.

UA78L05ACDR - Significantly improved Vin(max), thermal resistance, and board area

TPS70950DRVR - Significantly improved dropout, accuracy, and IQ, thermal resistance, and board area
