UCC12051-Q1: Leakage current across isolation barrier

Hello,

I'm evaluating this device as a possible replacement power supply for a medical sensor but I don't see an overall leakage current listed in the datasheet or in the 60601-1 cert for this part.

Is the leakage current known/documented?

Brian,

We specify isolation voltage and isolation capacitance, Ciso=3.5pF and CMTI=100V/ns minimum. Based on these parameters, a common-mode current, Icm will be induced across the isolation barrier of: Icm=C*dV/dT=3.5pf*100V/ns=350mA. This is one type of "leakage current" through the transformer.

Secondly, we test for leakage during functional test but we specify as resistance, RIO, under each of the temperature test conditions shown below (page 5 from UCC12051-Q1 data sheet here).

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the explanation. Based on this and some additional discussion, we're going to get a few parts and run a suite of tests to see how the end circuit behaves with this device and whether it will suffice in the long run (math says it should).
