TPS61022: Inquery regarding Figure8-5 Start-up Waveform

Part Number: TPS61022

Dear Specialists,

My customer is interested in TPS61022 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

Regarding datasheet P.17 Figure 8-5, I have a question about Start-up Waveform

① There is a flat part of about 40μs during the rise of the Vout waveform.

Why is this? Is it the device specifications?

②In the Inductor current, the current drops at the same timing as the flat part of Vout. Why does it not level out and fall down?

I appreciate your great help in advance.

  • Hi Shinichi,

This is related to the start-up method of TPS61022.

There are two modes during startup, when VOUT < VIN it is pre-charge mode, when VOUT > VIN, it is switching mode.

The flat voltage caused by the mode change, there are some transition time during mode change.

It is actually device's feature, and also related to the load, with different load the behavior will be a little different.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  • Hi Nathan,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand that TPS61022 has two modes and they are switched depending on the relationship between VIN and VOUT.

I'll share this with the customer.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
