BQ76952: STATUS OF CELL BALANCING AFTER I2C COMMUNICATION BREAK BETWEEN BQ IC & HOST CONTROLLER.

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi TI Team,

Currently i am using BQ7695202 BMS IC for our project. I want to ask one question that if host controller send the 5 cell balancing command to BQ IC & BQ IC start cell balancing of 5 cells. After that if I2C communication is break between BQ IC & host microcontroller. Then Cell balancing remain active or cell balancing will be stop by BQ IC??  Please clarify.

Thanks with regards,

DEEPAK

  • Hello Deepak,

Eventually the cell balancing will timeout and balancing will stop, based on the Settings:Cell Balancing Config:Cell Balance Interval setting.

The host has to re-issue the command to balance cells before this timer finishes to continue balancing, so if there's any I2C communication break between the BQ IC and MCU, balancing will eventually stop.
