bq78PL116 : Usage of 4 temperature sensors with 16 cells

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78PL116, BQWIZARD, BQ78PL114

I read bq78PL116 datasheet and TRM and found that bq78PL116 supports only 4 temperature sensors. Extended SBData Commands supports only 4 External Temperature 1-4. On the other hand, bq78PL116 can support up to 16 cells.

Would you advice me how only 4 temperature sensors can be used for 16 cells battery pack configuration? For example,,

1. Pack Design

How should users locate only 4 temperature sensors in 16 cells battery pack?

2. Protection Feature

Many of protection features are based on temperature information from external sensors. How does bq78PL116 assures battery pack safety only with 4 temperature sensors?

3. SBS:Temperature

SBS:Temperature (0x08) is updated based on the maximum cell temperature and reported in 0.1°K units. So, one of highest among 4 temperature sensor measurements will be displayed in SBS:Temperature. Is this correct?

4. Temperature Sensor Location

I think that the cell# of each temperature sensors must be configured in .tmap file. So, shall I pick the nearest cell from each temperature sensor (out of 4) to register in .tmap file using bqWizard?
