TPS628502-Q1: SW node overshoot

Part Number: TPS628502-Q1

Hello there,

I am measuring a huge overshoot on the SW node of the TPS628502-Q1.

Vin 4.2V, Vout 3.3V, Iout=0A, FPWM mode.

Trise 0.7us, Vpeak=6.46V. Is this normal behavior for the device? 2.2V overshoot is huge.

This measurement is taken on the EvKIT with 4GHz scope, 500Mhz probe with sping.

Momchil Haymanov

  • Hello Momchil,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

It might be possible to optimize the measurement a bit by reducing the GND spring length of the probe and by connecting GND directly at the IC pin.

Nevertheless, this very short time overshoot is also normal behavior and no quality or reliability concern, as it is in compliance to the datasheet maximum ratings.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
