Is it possible to switch on single led from the matrix or only full channel?

  • Hi Eduard,

    Yes, LP5867 can do it.

  • Thanks for answering.

I need 200 ma current pulses of up to 5 msec for leds. Maximum 3 leds together. Is it possible to use Matrix family devices?

If yes, how can I set this current in 50ma or 100ma matrix type devises?

  • Hi Eduard,

Could you please tell me what kind of LED matrix you want to use? I think you should know that the current is related to the matrix topology since you said you need 200mA current pulses for maximum 3 LEDs together.

If possible, please tell me your current requirement and how many LEDs you want to control. Then I will help to find a solution for you.

  • Hi Jared,

I need to lighting ~30 leds with pulse of 5 msec or less, each time 3 leds together with 200ma(serial or parallel). I have 3.2v battery and I don't interesting to use boost converter to save energy and heat. Practically after pulse follow long "off" period about 10-12 times of on. The system controlled to be below 42C temperature, temperature regulation performed by increasing of "off" period.

  • Hi Eduard,

One more question, since you are looking for matrix topology LED, can I understand that you need control each LED individually?

    BR, Jared

  • Hi Jared,

I am not need each led control, but every 3 leds should lighting together, but all together about 30 leds. It could be 10x3 channels with pwm control. It could be easier if 3 leds will be in parallel(600ma), no need boost converter.

  • Hi Eduard,

Actually, the maximum current of our LED driver is about 100mA per channel and based on my experience, I think the general RGB application doesn't need such high current. What I mean is that if you need 200mA per LED, it means our LED driver needs 200mA per channel or you need to connect 2 channel together for one LED dots.

Could you please tell me what's your end equipment?

Based on your description so far, I think you can use 4pcs TLC59116/TLC5911F to control all 30 LEDs.

  • Jared,

We are not general RGB application, it is medical design. I must 200ma pulse. is it possible to set Rext of TLC59116/TLC5911 for 200 ma and control by pulse? If 2 channels connected to one led is working, it is also possible solution.

  • Hi Eduard,

Actually, I recommend TLC59116 since I consider the control by pulse. TLC59116 can control the frequency of output PWM dimming by internal register.

And I think 2 channels connected to one LED should be no problem.
