TUSB1046EVM: TUSB1046 no display

Part Number: TUSB1046EVM

I got the TUSB1046EVM from TI, I connect DP input with computer DP output , DC 5V input connect with power supply, USB no connection, connect typec output to a typec input display LCD, all jump are faulte seting (I2C EN=0), display, display LCD show no signnal.

I trying to add a jumper to CTL1 pull up to vcc, add jumper to CTL0 with GND, no display, move CTL0 jumper to VCC then back to GND, still no display, add jumper to FLIP with VCC or GND, no display.

can anyone help me how to use this EVM board to make it can use typec to output the display signal.

Hi Sir,

When you use the TUSB1046 EVM with default jumper settings, do you see the display show up on your computer?

You can check this in your computer's display settings:

If you do see the display, try changing the DPEQ0 and DPEQ1 jumper settings to find the right equalization for your DisplayPort signal.

When I use USB pwoer the EVM board, it NOT shows the 2nd Display option. When use DC Jack pwoer the EVM board, it show the 2nd display. However even I see the display, and changing DPEQ0 and DPEQ1, there is no display signal.

I am not use I2C communitcation, not programming any code in the chips. and fing HPDin and CTL1 always LOW.

Hi Sir,

I tested the EVM myself earlier today, and it was able to pass DisplayPort data with no issues.

Here is an image of my EVM board. Can you confirm that this is the same as yours?

In my setup I had no USB plugged in and used the barrel jack to power the EVM. I also used:

- A 2 meter DisplayPort cable between the EVM and my computer

- A USB-C monitor

- A 1 meter USB-C cable between the EVM and the monitor:

Can you check that your DP and USB-C cable are working correctly?

I used the same connection, and cable are check with no problem. the diffence is the EVM is F version, not the A2 version as your used.

I don't believe that we have that version of the board in the lab. Did you order this EVM from TI.com?

If you did get this from TI.com, I can order this board and test it myself.

Hi Sir,

Today I was able to test this version of the board in the lab. I was able to get DisplayPort data through the board, but noticed a problem with the HPD signal in GPIO mode. I believe this board is intended to be used in I2C mode by default.

Here is the schematic for this version of the board: 2500.INT053F-001_Schematic.pdf. In the schematic, the HPD signal is routed to CTL1 (pin 23) of the TUSB1046. This is ok in I2C mode, but in GPIO mode the HPD signal is pin 32.

What I did to get the board working in GPIO mode is drive HPD high externally using a jumper wire. For this to work, you need to make sure R36 is populated on the bottom of the board.

If R36 is populated, you can use a jumper wire between pin 1 of JMP9 and any pull up pin on the board. In my case, I used the pullup on JMP4:

After doing this, DisplayPort data passed through the board with no issues:

Alternatively if you have an I2C controller, you can configure the board in I2C mode. Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks for your help. I already can make the board working as your suggustion. However I still found some issue, when I use compute independent video card output as DP source it work ok, but when I use intergrity mainbord DP out as source, htere is still no signal. can you let me know what is the diffence, or what kind of DP is needed for this EVM board.

my product will need hdmi to typec, I read the file SLLA333 and know it is possible, could you let me if is can use GPIO to complete the function or muse in I2C mode.

Hi Sir,

Have you confirmed that the Integrated mainboard DP out works with a monitor without our EVM in the middle? It could be that you need to change the DPEQ settings on the board to match the new channel.

If the mainboard DP out works without the EVM, are you able to see the display show up in your display settings when plugging it in through the EVM?

You can use GPIO mode or I2C mode for this. If using GPIO mode, be sure to disable the AUX snoop by pulling pin 29 high as shown in SLLA333:
