BQ40Z50: BQ40z50 is in shutdown mode, vs sleep mode

Is there an easy way to tell if the BQ40z50 is in shutdown mode, vs sleep mode? PBI ~ 0V means shutdown, right?
I've noticed 3 different values for the DSG FET gate drive: 20V (active normal), 8.85v (sleep?) ~0V (shutdown?). Is this right?
Measuring the power rail for the FG isn't so easy sometimes.
  • Hello,

For confirming if the gauge is in shutdown, this can be observed by communicating with bqStudio and observing that the SDM bit in Operation Status is set.

For confirming if the gauge is in sleep, this is slightly more difficult since the gauge will wake up if communication is seen. A way to observe this is to connect a scope to TS1, and observe the sampling rate of the pulses. If the gauge is in sleep, it should be about 4s between each sample, and if it is in normal this will be around 1s.
