BQ40Z50-R1: consumption current during safety status.

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Hi Team,

I would like to check on the current consumption of the IC.

Example, if the battery pack is charged and gets a COV safety, the battery pack voltage is lower due to the CHG FET closed.

Normally, the status of the MOSFETS are always on because it is a Non removable pack.  There is no communication.

I am wondering if the consumption current during the safety state is higher during normal conditions of a non removable pack with no communications.

Please advise.

Thanks.

  • Hi Ernest,

I believe this would need to be tested, since many protections contain the XDSG and XCHG enable, which disables their respective FETs. I believe when these are triggered, it could potentially alter the consumption of the device in normal mode.
