TPS63802: Can I use two in parallel for more current?

Part Number: TPS63802
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63806,

Hi, i'm designing a power board which has a 3.3v line from a lithium ion cell. The system should consume less than 1mA on sleep, and 3A on peaks, which this chip doesn't support (at least datasheet doesnt say). The board has a very constrained space, so i cant add a bigger inductor, but i can add multiple small ones.

I want to explore the possibility of putting two of these in parallel.

Is it possible?

Thanks,

Andres

  • Hi  Andres,

Can you take a look at TPS63806, it output capability is little stronger than TPS63802.

My concern about two device in parallel is the balance between this two device. As you know, there is a variation of reference voltage internal, resister divider, resister on PCB and so on.
