TPS65130: TPS65130

Hi, if I test this transient current more times, we even can capture the over 1.2A transient peak current. This makes the input supply down in my system.
So I want to know if this transient current can be reduced? in the d/s, it is said the soft-start can be used to reduce the transient, but I can't find any clue to take action for this. In my system, the transient peak value during power-on stage can be accepted within 250mA. So please help me resolve this issue. thank

Are you able to capture the current waveform of L3 during power on? I want to know whether this inrush current should be blame to VPOS or VNEG.

when i removed either L3 or L4, the inrush current is reduced to ~ half of both L3 and L4 are soldered.

we can check TPS65132 which has inrush current plots in the d/s, and this inrush current can be mitigated by soft-start delay time. how about the TPS65130? can I regulate this soft start and make the inrush current follow within 300mA?

Hi Jay,

The internal soft-start time is not adjustable. But you can add paralleled RC on the Q2 gate to source to slow down the FET turn on. And if you can separately enable ENP and ENN, the inrush current will be reduced as well.

Thank Patrick. How about the device TPS65132's in rush spec. compared with TPS65130? I want to use tps65132 to replace the tps65130 with fixed +6V and -6V output.

Hi Jay,

The peak current of TPS65132 is adjustable so the peak current will be less than TPS65130. You can refer to Figure 41 and Figure 42 in the datasheet.
