TPS546B24A: IOUT current is -0.5 in TI Fusion

Part Number: TPS546B24A

Hi Team,

I have observed in TI fusion that when there is No load at VOUT.TI fusion Monitor tab is showing Negative 0.5A current.

We have tried to Load with 5A at VOUT and TI fusion it shows 4.5A so just want to know why the device is showing  Negative 0.5A current when there is NO load connected.

Ataached both the image:-

Many Thanks

Rajat

  • Hi Rajat,

The READ_IOUT values are well within the expected tolerance of the READ_IOUT measurement system as specified in the datasheet:

When the power supply is assembled on the board, there can be layout-related systemic errors that introduce variation in the output current sense and measurement accuracy.

That's why we have PMBus commands IOUT_CAL_OFFSET and IOUT_CAL_GAIN, which helps tighten the PMBus output current measurement accuracy.

There are multiple resources available online for the current calibration procedure, such as this one: https://www.ti.com/document-viewer/lit/html/SSZTCN2

    Thank you,
    Tomoya

  • Thanks Tomoya.

I have gone through the link shared its clear now that correct value for  IOUT CAL OFFSET we can get at the time of Power ON.

Please suggest what value we should keep for  IOUT CAL OFFSET,IOUT CAL GAIN  for IOUT = 10A current in .tisfp file?

there are 2 Tabs in the GUI for current & temprature setting phase ALL

Please suggest do i need to make changes in both the TAB?

    Many Thanks

    Rajat

  • Hi Rajat,

Two tabs are same. You can change either of them. Another one will change automatically.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Nancy

can you please update on this?

    Its not changing automatically.

  • Hi Rajat,

In order for your settings to update, you will need to click on the "Write to Hardware". After you write to hardware, you have the option to store it to NVM (non-volatile memory) by clicking on the "Store Config to NVM" if you want the new setting to be your device default.

    Thank you,
    Tomoya
