UCC2897A: Regarding ref design PMP9720: T1, T2 transformer Spec

Part Number: UCC2897A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP9720,

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Customer is following our PMP9720 ref design to use UCC2897A for a isolated DCDC design. Design requirement: Vin 54V, Vout 12V, Pout 150W.

But they are not able to purchase the transformer T1(RA7040-AL) and T2(CST2-100L).

https://www.ti.com/tool/PMP9720

Please help to advise the transformer requirements for T1 and T2 respectively.

  • Turns ratio
  • Center tapped or other
  • Magnetizing inductance
  • Core material
  • other requirements...

Thanks and best regards,

Terry

  • Hi Terry,

These are T1 and T2 specifications (see below). You can check all the specs and order samples on those links:

    RA740-AL

    CST2-100L

    Thank you

  • Hi Manuel,

Thanks for your support. I have a follow up question.

The Coilcraft/RA7040-AL seems to be a customized part for UCC2897. Customer select PULSE/PH0805NL to quote in the RFQ stage. After further check PULSE/PH0805NL part, it looks like that PH0805NL schematic is different with RA7040-AL at PIN2~PIN5. I am not sure if PULSE/PH0805N can be used.  Could you please help give some suggestion how to select it? or customer must use RA7040-AL?

    PH0805NL datasheet as below:

    Best regards,

    Terry

Could you please check the query below? Thanks.

  • Terry,

The specifications of RA7040 and PH0805 are different. The number of turns from primary to secondary are different and the primary inductance is different (see below). I recommend ordering RA7040 to follow the PMP9720 reference design.

    RA7040-AL:

    PH0805

    Thank you
