TPS4H160-Q1: TPS4H160BQPWPRQ1 when short-to-GND and overcurrent, remove short fault & re-enable INx which can recovery normal output. Why TPS2HB16AQPWPRQ1 and TPS1HB08AQPWPRQ1 must remove short fault and operate latch PIN which can recovery normal

Hi TI

TPS4H160BQPWPRQ1 when short-to-GND and overcurrent,  remove short fault & re-enable INx which can recovery normal output. Why TPS2HB16AQPWPRQ1 and TPS1HB08AQPWPRQ1 must  remove short fault and operate  latch PIN  which can recovery normal output? Why there are different?

Why can not TPS2HB16AQPWPRQ1 and TPS1HB08AQPWPRQ1 recovery normal though ENx PIN?

  • Ling,

They are two separate generation parts. There isn't an explicit functional reason, however the feedback that we received was that it was cleaner to have a pin separate from the core enable pins to retry in the event of a fault.

Our newer SPI enabled device, such as TPS2HCS10-Q1, allow for full configuration of faults, retries, and can even mask out individual errors.

    Best Regards,
    Tim
